We're hiring a Senior Backend Developer to own core services end to end, not just ship features within someone else's system. **What you'll own** * Design, build, and own backend services — you're accountable for their reliability, performance, and maintainability, not just the code you commit * Make architectural decisions in your domain and drive technical direction for your squad without needing to be told what to build * Ship to production continuously — we review PRs same-day and value velocity over process * Raise the bar around you: mentor mid-level engineers, run design reviews, and push back on bad technical calls with evidence and alternatives * Own your services in production, including on-call for your area **What we're looking for** * 5+ years of backend engineering, with a track record of owning a service or system end to end (not only features within one built by others) * Strong Python (or a comparable backend language you can point to in production) * Solid AWS and distributed-systems fundamentals — you've designed for scale and can talk through the trade-offs you made * You've made architectural decisions the team actually adopted, and you can explain why * Clear communicator — you can articulate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders * **Preferred industry background:** fintech, B2B infrastructure, payments, prediction markets or another high-reliability, data-intensive domain.
