Job description from the source
**Beverage Catering Sales & Operations Manager** **Columbus Cafe | San Francisco, CA** **Part-time | 25–35 hours per week** **$20–$25/hour base + performance-based commission** Columbus Cafe is launching an off-site beverage catering business, and we’re looking for an experienced hospitality professional to help build and grow it. This is not primarily a bartending job. We’re looking for someone who can **sell events, build client relationships, organize operations, and manage events from the first inquiry through completion.** We already have the Columbus Cafe brand, initial beverage concepts, operating resources, and the licensing foundation. We need someone who can take ownership of the catering business and help turn it into a profitable, repeatable operation. **What You’ll Do:** * Develop new business through outreach, referrals, planners, venues, weddings, corporate events, private parties, and hospitality relationships. * Respond to inquiries, meet with clients, prepare proposals, follow up, and close business. * Help refine beverage packages, pricing, minimums, and upgrades. * Manage confirmed events from planning through execution. * Coordinate staffing, beverage quantities, purchasing, transportation, setup, and event logistics. * Track leads, bookings, event costs, and profitability. * Build repeat and referral business after successful events. **Who We’re Looking For:** We’re especially interested in candidates with experience in: * Catering or event sales * Hotel or restaurant events * Beverage catering or mobile bars * Weddings or corporate events * Hospitality business development * Event production The strongest candidate will be a confident salesperson, highly organized, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple clients and events at the same time. Existing relationships with Bay Area event planners, venues, hotels, corporate clients, or wedding professionals are especially valuable. Experience with California alcohol compliance or off-site beverage service is helpful, but not required. **Compensation:** This is an **employee position paying $20–$25 per hour, plus substantial performance-based commission** tied to the business you help generate and the profitability of completed events. Approved business expenses will be reimbursed. Specific commission terms will be discussed during the interview process and documented in writing before employment begins. **Schedule:** Approximately **25–35 hours per week during the launch period**, depending on sales activity and event volume. The schedule is flexible, but some evening and weekend availability is required for events. Why This Role Is Different This is an opportunity to help build a new business rather than simply step into an existing management position. Columbus Cafe will provide the brand, resources, initial concepts, and overall direction. The person in this role will have meaningful influence over how the catering operation develops and will participate financially in the business they help create. If you have experience selling and managing events and want more independence and upside than a conventional hospitality position, we’d like to hear from you. Please submit your résumé and a short note describing your relevant catering, hospitality, event-sales, or business-development experience. Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 – 35.0 per week Benefits: * Employee discount * Flexible schedule Experience: * catering, event sales, or hospitality/event production: 3 years (Required) Ability to Commute: * San Francisco, CA (Preferred) Work Location: Hybrid remote in San Francisco, CA (San Francisco County)
