Full Time, Remote IP CDI Specialist

Job Description HIMpros is seeking experienced **Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialists** to join our growing team! We are looking for knowledgeable CDI professionals with strong inpatient clinical documentation review experience who can work independently in a remote environment. Responsibilities * Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records to ensure accurate and complete clinical documentation. * Identify documentation gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for clarification. * Develop and submit compliant physician queries to ensure accurate capture of diagnoses, severity of illness (SOI), and risk of mortality (ROM). * Collaborate with physicians, coding professionals, and healthcare teams to improve documentation quality. * Review clinical indicators, diagnostic findings, and treatment plans to support accurate documentation. * Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, official coding guidelines, and industry standards. * Maintain established productivity and quality standards for initial reviews and re-reviews. * Monitor query response rates and follow up on outstanding documentation requests. * Support accurate MS-DRG assignment and appropriate reimbursement through improved documentation. Qualifications * Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient CDI experience required. * Active RN, RHIA, RHIT, or other relevant clinical or HIM credential required. * CCDS or CDIP certification strongly preferred. * Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, MS-DRGs, clinical documentation guidelines, and compliant query practices. * Experience reviewing complex inpatient cases across multiple specialties, including ICU, medical-surgical, cardiac, and surgical services. * Experience with Epic, Cerner, 3M/Solventum, Iodine, Nuance, or other CDI software preferred. * Strong clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills. * Ability to work independently while meeting established productivity and quality expectations. * Previous remote CDI experience preferred.
