We're building a team of full stack developers to support an anticipated large-scale Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enterprise IT modernization program. **About the Work** You'll help modernize and operate FAA mission and administrative applications across a hybrid environment. That environment includes on-premises data centers, AWS and Azure government cloud, virtual machines, and Kubernetes/OpenShift container platforms. The work centers on moving monolithic .NET, Java, and ColdFusion applications to secure, API-first, modular architectures. You'll work with large relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), integrate with FAA shared services, and contribute to a standardized DevSecOps toolchain (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, security automation, monitoring). **Two Technical Tracks (apply for one or both)** *.NET track:* * Build and maintain full stack applications using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core. * Develop RESTful web APIs, server-side services, and data-access components using Entity Framework Core, LINQ, and SQL. * Build responsive user interfaces with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Blazor, Angular, or React. *Java track:* * Build and maintain full stack applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA. * Develop secure REST APIs and microservices with Hibernate and relational databases. * Build responsive user interfaces with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Angular or React. **Levels** * **Level I (1+ year):** Develops and tests features under guidance from senior developers, and learns the program's architecture, tools, and security standards. * **Level II (3+ years):** Independently builds features, APIs, and data-access components, and troubleshoots and resolves defects across the stack. * **Level III (6+ years):** Owns modules end to end, contributes to design decisions, leads integration and performance work, and mentors junior developers. * **Level IV (10+ years):** Provides senior technical leadership for application architecture, integration, performance, CI/CD, containerization, and deployment, and is accountable for code quality and delivery. **Requirements** * **U.S. citizen residing in the United States.** * Able to obtain a federal Public Trust designation. * Relevant hands-on full stack experience for the level you're applying to. * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. **Preferred** * Federal, FAA, or DOT experience. * A current or prior Public Trust determination (MBI, BI, or similar). * Experience modernizing legacy applications. * Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift. * AWS or Azure. * Security scanning tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, or Veracode. * Military veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. **Position Details** * **Type:** Contract (1099), contingent on contract award; anticipated start November 2026, five-year period of performance. * **Location:** Washington, DC; College Park, GA; Fort Worth, TX; Des Moines, WA; telework options available. * **Schedule:** 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential overtime, weekend work, and travel. **How to Apply** Submit your resume to **resume@aertron.com** and tell us: * Your track (.NET, Java, or both). * The level you're targeting. * Your U.S. citizenship status. * Any current or prior Public Trust or security clearance.
