Legal Assistant/Paralegal

FloranceGordonBrown, P.C., a full\-service law firm located in downtown Richmond, is searching for a full\-time legal assistant to join our family law team. The legal assistant will assist attorneys with a variety of duties including creating and maintaining case files, managing attorney calendars, court deadlines and appointments, communicatimg with clients, courts and opposing counsel, preparation of correspondence and documents such as discovery requests and responses, preparation of basic pleadings, issuance and follow up with subpoenas duces tecum, and other ad hoc requests as needed. The ideal candidate will be reliable and motivated with a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity and an interest in providing excellent client service in a professional environment. Qualifications: * Must be prompt and dependable. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook. * Attention to detail with accurate typing skills. Requirements: * Familiarity with the filing and other procedures of Circuit Courts around the Commonwealth. * A thorough understanding of the discovery process in Virginia and federal courts. * Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage workloads, and meet deadlines. * Proactive work style that anticipates attorney needs. * Excellent typing and proofreading skills. * Enjoys interacting with clients and other counsel.
