### **Senior Java Engineer / Java Developer** **Location:** Denver, CO , Hybrid **Work Arrangement:** 1 day onsite Tuesday; remote Monday, Wednesday–Friday **Contract:** 12/01/2026 – 06/30/2027 **Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM MST **Hours:** 40 hours/week **Openings:** 1 **Candidate Requirement:** Must be local to Denver/Colorado ### **Position Overview** We are seeking an experienced **Senior Java Engineer / Java Developer** to support the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of web applications, backend services, REST APIs, and cloud\-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands\-on experience with **Java 21, Spring Boot, REST APIs, AWS, GitLab CI/CD**, and modern software development practices. This position requires someone who can work independently, troubleshoot technical issues, and collaborate effectively with development and business teams. ### **Responsibilities** * Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using **Java 21**. * Develop backend applications using **Spring Boot and Spring Framework**. * Build and consume **REST APIs** and JSON\-based integrations. * Support web applications using **Thymeleaf, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript**. * Develop and support applications hosted in **AWS**. * Work with **ECS, API Gateway, and DynamoDB**. * Manage source code using **GitLab**. * Develop and troubleshoot **GitLab CI/CD pipelines**. * Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions. * Support infrastructure\-as\-code initiatives using **Terraform**. * Troubleshoot application, deployment, cloud, and pipeline issues. * Use **IntelliJ IDEA** for application development. * Follow best practices for testing, documentation, maintainability, and security. * Utilize AI\-assisted coding tools where appropriate. ### **Required Qualifications** * Strong professional Java development experience. * Experience with **Java 21** or recent Java versions. * Strong **Spring Boot / Spring Framework** experience. * Experience developing **REST APIs**. * Strong knowledge of **JSON** and API integration. * Experience with **HTML, CSS, and JavaScript**. * Experience with **Git/GitLab**. * Experience with **CI/CD**, preferably GitLab CI/CD. * Experience working with **AWS**. * Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem\-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and effectively within a development team. ### **Preferred Qualifications** * Thymeleaf * Amazon ECS * Amazon API Gateway * Amazon DynamoDB * Terraform * IntelliJ IDEA * Claude Code * GitHub Copilot * Cursor * Cloud deployment troubleshooting * Application log analysis * Build and pipeline troubleshooting * Secure coding practices * Cloud application security ### **Technical Stack** **Java 21 \| Spring Boot \| Spring Framework \| REST APIs \| JSON \| Thymeleaf \| HTML \| CSS \| JavaScript \| AWS \| ECS \| API Gateway \| DynamoDB \| GitLab \| GitLab CI/CD \| Terraform \| IntelliJ IDEA** ### **Ideal Candidate** The ideal candidate is a hands\-on **Senior Java Developer** who can work across backend development, REST APIs, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and lightweight frontend technologies.
