After-School Childcare Teacher – 10 – 20 Hours/Week to Start

Come Be Part of Something Special Active Learning Center is looking for the **right person to become an anchor in our after\-school program**. This is much more than simply supervising children until their parents arrive. Our after\-school staff help pick kids up from school, hear all about their day, take them on adventures, keep them moving and engaged, and build the kind of relationships that can make a real difference in a child's life. We work together, help each other, communicate, and try to create an environment where both our kids **and our employees** enjoy being here. **We're looking for the right fit — not just another body to fill a shift.** **What You'll Do** As part of our after\-school team, you will: * Help supervise and actively engage with school\-age children * Assist with school pickup runs using an ALC vehicle * Participate in walks, outdoor activities, field trips, games, projects, and other after\-school adventures * Build positive and meaningful relationships with the children in our program * Help children practice appropriate behavior, problem\-solving, independence, and respect for others * Maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment * Help with basic classroom and center cleanup * Communicate and work closely with the rest of the ALC team * Help keep the afternoon organized while still allowing kids to **play, explore, create, and have fun** * Be someone our kids and team can depend on This is an **active position**. We aren't looking for someone who wants to sit on the sidelines and simply watch kids. You should be comfortable getting involved, going outside, playing games, taking walks, helping with activities, and occasionally getting a little dirty. **Who We're Looking For** You may be a great fit if you: * Genuinely enjoy working with children * Are dependable and show up when you say you will * Have patience but can also provide appropriate boundaries and direction * Are comfortable being silly, playing, talking with kids, and building relationships with them * Can work independently when needed while still being part of a team * Communicate well with coworkers, children, and families * Are comfortable driving children in a center vehicle * Can remain calm and professional when children are having a difficult day * Are willing to jump in and help instead of saying, "That's not my job" * Want work that has a purpose beyond simply earning a paycheck **Childcare experience is helpful, but the right personality, attitude, reliability, and ability to connect with kids are just as important to us.** **Minimum Requirements** Applicants must: * Be **18 years of age or older** * Have a **valid driver's license** * Have a safe driving history appropriate for transporting children * Be able to successfully complete the required background check * Be able to obtain and maintain required **CPR/First Aid certification** * Be physically able to participate in normal childcare activities, including walking, standing, bending, playing, and outdoor activities * Be dependable and available during the scheduled after\-school hours **Schedule** This position will begin at approximately **10–20 hours per week**, primarily during the after\-school period Monday through Friday.
