NCS is a subsidiary of the Singtel Group. **Job Description** The Java Software Engineer develops high-quality software solutions based on design requirements, ensuring code quality, standards compliance, and timely delivery that meets business and technical specifications. What will you do? **Software Development & Design** * **Translate** business and technical requirements into robust, scalable program code * **Design, develop, and maintain** application modules and components in accordance with established standards and methodologies * **Engineer** efficient algorithms and data structures to solve complex technical problems * **Implement** full-stack solutions using Java and related technologies * **Ensure** all code adheres to programming guidelines, best practices, and security standards **Quality Assurance & Testing** * **Develop and execute** comprehensive unit test packages and document results to validate quality * **Support and participate in** integration testing, system testing, UAT, and implementation activities * **Conduct** peer code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency * **Validate** that software and subroutines perform to specification **Configuration & Change Management** * **Manage** changes to configurable items including hardware, software, and documentation * **Execute** configuration management planning, identification, controls, and audits * **Maintain** version control and ensure traceability of all code changes **Issue Resolution & System Optimization** * **Diagnose and resolve** reported problems or bugs to ensure smooth production execution * **Investigate** errors and root causes, initiating amendments and testing for optimal system operation * **Troubleshoot** production issues and implement effective, timely solutions * **Optimize** application performance through profiling, analysis, and targeted improvements **Documentation & Compliance** * **Prepare and maintain** comprehensive, up-to-date system and technical documentation * **Ensure** all deliverables comply with security guidelines, coding standards, and regulatory requirements * **Document** test results, system specifications, and technical artefacts for governance and knowledge sharing **Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement** * **Collaborate** closely with team leads, architects, Business Analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders * **Participate actively in** requirements gathering sessions and review functional specifications * **Align** design and code with architecture standards and project objectives * **Communicate** technical proposals and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences An ideal candidate possess: ***Due to nature of the project, only Singaporeans will be considered.*** **Experience** * 1–4 years of professional experience in developing and delivering application software * Relevant system development and maintenance experience using Java-related technologies **Technical Skills** * Strong proficiency in Java and related frameworks * Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes * Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively and analytically * Proficient in written and spoken English **Other Requirements** * Willingness to travel as required Preferred Attributes **Personal Qualities** * **Initiative** and strong commitment to results and quality standards * **Team player** with excellent communication and interpersonal skills * **Self-motivated** with a positive attitude and high energy * **Customer-focused** with strong service orientation * **Adaptable** to changing requirements and priorities * **Professional, proactive** , and delivery-focused mindset **Professional and/or Technical Certifications** * Oracle Certified Professional (Java) – **Preferred** * Agile-related certifications – Advantageous * ITIL Foundation – Advantageous **Additional information** We are driven by our AEIOU beliefs—Adventure, Excellence, Integrity, Ownership, and Unity—and we seek individuals who embody these values in both their professional and personal lives.
