**Overview** ------------ **Department Overview** ----------------------- Corporate Communications and Community Relations provides effective and consistent messaging and a positive brand image for Blue Cross. The division produces multi\-media communications for external and internal audiences, tracks industry developments, monitors issues of public interest and formulates Blue Cross’ public relations strategy and responses to media inquiries. The division also leads Blue Cross’ corporate giving and The Caring Foundation in support of charitable nonprofits and initiatives statewide improving the health, wellness and education of Alabamians. **Primary Responsibilities** ---------------------------- The Intern position is designed for student workers who are still completing their education. The internship program is designed to provide practical work experience as well as exposure to our business environment. Intern positions are of limited duration and are designed to provide daily oversight with emphasis on training and development of the student. **Summary of Qualifications** ----------------------------- * Status as a college student or recent college graduate of an educational institution * Experience working with various Microsoft Office programs * Experience interpreting and communicating information orally and written * Experience researching and analyzing data * Experience working independently as well as in a team environment * Experience identifying and solving problems * Must have a 3\.0 GPA or consistent work/extracurricular activities if lower * Pursuit of a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations preferred * Experience writing and editing content preferred Experience with photography and videography a plus * **Work Location** ----------------- The work schedule for this position will be full time onsite.
