Job description from the source

**Senior Accountant – Business Services & Tax** **St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC | Full-time | Permanent** **AUD 105,000–115,000 base salary + superannuation** Kuubiik is recruiting a Senior Accountant for an established Melbourne accounting and advisory firm. This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong Australian public-practice background who enjoys tax compliance, working directly with clients and helping less experienced accountants develop. **The role** You will manage accounting and tax work for privately owned businesses and individuals. Tax compliance is a substantial part of the position, alongside client communication, monthly reporting, workflow oversight and support for junior team members. **Your responsibilities will include:** * Preparing and reviewing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals. * Managing BAS, IAS, GST and other Australian tax-compliance obligations. * Overseeing client jobs, deadlines and the quality of completed work. * Acting as a regular point of contact for clients on accounting and tax matters. * Preparing or overseeing monthly reports where required. * Reviewing work and providing practical training and guidance to junior accountants. * Working with senior colleagues on tax planning and more complex client matters. **About you** * At least four years of relevant experience in an Australian public-practice accounting firm. * Strong, recent hands-on experience in business services and Australian tax compliance. * Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types. * Confidence dealing directly with clients and managing competing deadlines. * Experience reviewing work or supporting junior accountants, or clear readiness to take on that responsibility. * A relevant accounting qualification; CA or CPA qualification, or substantial progress towards it, is highly regarded. * Experience with Australian accounting and tax software. Familiarity with Xero, MYOB or comparable systems is useful. * Australian citizenship or permanent residency, with no requirement for current or future employer sponsorship. * Ability to work from the St Kilda Road office under the arrangement below. **Qualifications** * Strong technical skills in business services accounting, including preparation of financial statements, management reports, and reconciliations. * Solid tax compliance expertise, including income tax, GST, BAS, IAS, FBT, and related advisory for small to medium enterprises. * Proficiency with accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar), and advanced Excel skills. * Experience reviewing and supervising work of junior accountants and providing coaching or mentoring support. * Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information. * Strong client relationship and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters in clear, accessible language. * Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA or CPA qualification (or progress toward it) strongly preferred. * Demonstrated experience in public practice or professional services, ideally in business services and tax, and familiarity with Australian regulatory requirements. * Ability to work effectively on-site in Perth, WA, manage multiple deadlines, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment. **Why consider it?** You will join an established practice, take ownership of meaningful compliance work and build your client and team-leadership experience. There is scope to progress as you demonstrate your capability in the role. If this sounds relevant, apply with your CV. Kuubiik will contact suitable applicants for a confidential discussion. **Work arrangement** The role is based in the firm’s St Kilda Road office five days a week for the initial six-month trial period. After that period, one set work-from-home day per week is available, with the remaining days in the office. Please consider whether regular travel to St Kilda Road works for you before applying.
