We are developing a new, end\-to\-end cloud platform that will serve as the backbone for our next\-generation products, ranging from traditional pharmacy benefit management services to AI\-native applications. This platform is a critical infrastructure that requires robust, scalable, and secure foundations to support our innovative offerings. We are seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to lead the technical development and strategic direction of this platform. This role involves hands\-on engineering leadership, where you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our services. You will establish standards for deployment, security, observability, and cost management, influencing the engineering culture and ensuring the platform’s reliability and scalability for years to come. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with AI engineering and data teams, ensuring that analytics and pipeline workloads are integrated seamlessly. This is a greenfield project with significant production stakes, offering an opportunity to shape the foundational architecture that will support our future products and innovations. **Qualifications** Candidates should possess at least 8\+ years of experience in building and operating production platform infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on cloud\-native environments. Proven, hands\-on expertise in deploying and managing production Kubernetes clusters, particularly on AWS EKS, is essential. Experience in infrastructure as code using Terraform at scale, including module design, state management, and provider upgrades, is required. Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, especially with self\-hosted runners and artifact promotion strategies, is necessary. Candidates should have practical experience with Helm, including shared chart libraries and environment\-specific configurations, alongside familiarity with GitOps workflows. Expertise in AWS services such as IAM, VPC, Secrets Manager, container registries, and managed compute is mandatory. Security and compliance experience, particularly in regulated environments, is highly valued. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog, with a focus on distributed tracing and metrics correlation. Strong programming skills in at least one backend language (Python, Go, C\#/.NET) and shell scripting are required. Excellent communication skills, the ability to mentor engineers, and a collaborative mindset are crucial for success in this role. **Responsibilities** * Build the infrastructure as code foundation: Design and maintain a comprehensive Terraform monorepo covering Kubernetes clusters, networking, IAM, and platform stacks across all environments. Ensure state management, module boundaries, and provider configurations are optimized and up\-to\-date. * Operate production\-grade Kubernetes clusters: Manage end\-to\-end operations of EKS clusters, including node lifecycle, autoscaling, ingress, workload identity, secrets management, and security hardening. Maintain isolation and security best practices. * Develop and safeguard the deployment pipeline: Create robust CI/CD workflows using self\-hosted GitHub Actions runners, ensuring artifact immutability, promotion consistency, and environment parity. Enforce promotion processes to mirror production environments accurately. * Accelerate time to production: Maintain Helm chart libraries and service templates that enable rapid deployment. Establish golden paths that incorporate logging, metrics, secrets, and identity management, making onboarding and deployment straightforward for new services. * Enhance security and compliance: Implement least\-privilege IAM policies, secrets hygiene, network boundaries, and image provenance controls. Automate security controls and ensure auditability to streamline compliance processes. * Manage cloud costs effectively: Establish tagging, cost allocation, and right\-sizing practices to ensure predictable spending. Monitor and optimize compute and data costs as the platform scales. * Embed observability: Integrate structured logging, metrics, and tracing into the platform, establishing telemetry schemas and ensuring comprehensive visibility across services and environments. * Set standards and documentation: Define platform conventions, document best practices, and review infrastructure changes. Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering teams to ensure consistency and extendibility. * Collaborate across teams: Work closely with application, data, and AI teams to ensure platform capabilities align with service requirements, deployment workflows, and operational needs. **Benefits** RxSense offers a competitive salary range of 190,000 to 235,000 USD, commensurate with experience and expertise.
