Job description from the source
**Android Mobile Developer – (Platform Migration)** Optomi, is seeking a Android Mobile Engineer, who will be a part of a team that is responsible for the rendering foundation of a mobile application. The migration effort involves moving 100\+ mobile application modules from the legacy platform to the new architecture. Each migration follows a standardized process that includes dependency updates, build validation, automated testing, and code reviews. **What the right candidate will enjoy:** * Job location in Seattle WA! * Work on platform modernization, automation, and scalable engineering solutions while contributing to a highly collaborative team. * Start with a 3\-6 month contract with potential to extend to a full year! * Contribute to client projects and technology initiatives that solve real business challenges and create measurable impact. * Build your skills through challenging projects, mentorship, continuous learning, and opportunities to work with emerging technologies and modern solutions. **Experience of the right candidate:** * Strong mobile application development experience * Kotlin development experience (Android) * Experience migrating applications or platforms to modern architectures * Ability to work with large\-scale, enterprise\-level applications * Experience validating builds, resolving dependencies, running automated tests, and code review processes. * Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills * Experience working within established SDLC processes * Ability to work independently on repeatable, high\-volume migration workstreams **Responsibilities of the right candidate:** * Develop and maintain Android application code in Kotlin, ensuring migrated modules meet performance, stability, and code quality standards within the new architecture. * Diagnose and resolve migration exceptions — investigate modules that fail standard migration steps, identify root causes (dependency conflicts, deprecated APIs, build failures), and implement fixes or workarounds. * Validate build and test integrity across migrated modules, ensuring automated test suites pass and rendering/UI behavior remains consistent with the legacy platform. * Conduct and participate in code reviews for migration pull requests, enforcing architectural standards. * Contribute to and improve the team's AI\-powered SDLC automation platform — providing feedback, testing new automation features, and helping refine workflows that support the migration effort. * Collaborate cross\-functionally with teams owning the 100\+ dependent modules and integrated services to coordinate migration timelines, resolve integration issues, and minimize regressions. * Document migration patterns and exceptions, contributing to internal runbooks/playbooks so future migrations (and other engineers) can move faster and hit fewer blockers. * Monitor post\-migration application health **,** using metrics/crash reporting to catch regressions introduced during the platform transition and drive fixes. * Provide input on modern architecture decisions (e.g., modularization strategy, rendering foundation design) based on hands\-on migration experience, helping shape the long\-term technical direction.
