Senior Android Developer – Banking Domain **Location:** Austin, TX / Dallas, TX Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Android Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing native Android applications for digital banking and financial services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Kotlin, modern Android development frameworks, mobile application security, and banking or fintech solutions. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, user-friendly mobile experiences while ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin, Java, and modern Android development practices. * Develop secure mobile banking features, including customer onboarding, authentication, account management, fund transfers, bill payments, card controls, notifications, and service requests. * Integrate Android applications with REST APIs, backend services, authentication platforms, payment systems, and third-party SDKs. * Implement mobile security practices, including encryption, secure data storage, Android Keystore, certificate pinning, session management, and application integrity checks. * Develop scalable and reusable application components using MVVM, Clean Architecture, Jetpack libraries, Coroutines, Flow, and dependency injection. * Write and maintain unit, integration, and UI tests to ensure application quality and reliability. * Troubleshoot application crashes, performance issues, memory leaks, and production incidents. * Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, security assessments, and release management activities. * Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend developers, QA engineers, and security teams to deliver business requirements. * Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices and continuous improvement. Required Skills and Qualifications * 6+ years of overall software development experience, including at least 4 years of hands-on native Android development. * Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Flow. * Experience developing customer-facing applications in banking, financial services, payments, fintech, or other regulated industries. * Strong understanding of MVVM, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, design patterns, and Android application lifecycle. * Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger and modular Android application development. * Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, token-based authentication, biometrics, push notifications, and deep links. * Knowledge of mobile application security, encryption, secure storage, certificate pinning, root detection, code obfuscation, and OWASP Mobile risks. * Experience with JUnit, Mockito or MockK, Espresso, and Jetpack Compose testing. * Familiarity with Git, Gradle, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitrise, or Azure DevOps. * Knowledge of Android performance optimization, accessibility, localization, data privacy, and production troubleshooting. * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with digital banking, payment processing, digital wallets, lending, card management, or customer onboarding platforms. * Familiarity with PCI DSS, strong customer authentication, privacy regulations, and secure software development practices. * Knowledge of payment tokenization, OTP and push authentication, passkeys, device binding, and risk-based authentication. * Experience with feature flags, remote configuration, dynamic features, reusable SDKs, or white-label mobile applications. * Exposure to cross-platform technologies such as Flutter or React Native.
