HVAC Plant Manager – Commercial Facilities

Position Summary Express Facility Management is seeking an experienced **HVAC Plant Manager** to lead the daily operation and maintenance of a commercial facility and its central HVAC plant. This is a **hands\-on leadership position**, not a desk\-only management role. The Plant Manager will lead the onsite maintenance team while actively supporting HVAC operations, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and work\-order management. **Commercial HVAC experience is required.** Candidates must have hands\-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting commercial HVAC equipment. Experience with **chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers, and central plant systems is strongly preferred.** Key Responsibilities * Oversee daily operation and maintenance of the facility and central HVAC plant. * Lead, assign, and prioritize work for the onsite maintenance team. * Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and support repairs of commercial HVAC and central plant equipment. * Monitor chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers, controls, temperatures, pressures, and other operating conditions. * Manage preventive maintenance schedules and ensure PMs are completed and documented on time. * Manage work orders from assignment through completion, documentation, follow\-up, and closeout. * Maintain accurate equipment logs, maintenance records, readings, work\-order notes, and supporting documentation. * Troubleshoot facility issues and determine when work can be handled internally or requires a specialized contractor. * Coordinate and oversee outside HVAC and specialty vendors when needed. * Identify recurring equipment problems and escalate or implement corrective action. * Maintain compliance with applicable safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and site policies. * Communicate equipment conditions, major repairs, open work orders, and operational concerns to management and the client. * Remain actively involved in hands\-on maintenance and emergency response when required. Required Qualifications * **4\+ years of hands\-on commercial HVAC experience required.** * Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. * Experience with **chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers, and/or central plant systems strongly preferred.** * Previous lead, supervisory, Plant Operator, Building Engineer, Lead HVAC Technician, or similar experience preferred. * Ability to lead technicians while remaining hands\-on in daily operations. * Experience with preventive maintenance and work\-order management. * Experience with **CMMS, Yardi, Facility Manager, BAS/BMS, or similar facility/work\-order systems**preferred. * Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and communication skills. * Knowledge of HVAC safety practices and applicable OSHA requirements. * Valid driver's license in good standing.
