Staff Java Engineer

**Employment Type:** Full-time, Permanent **Location:** Sydney, NSW — Hybrid **Experience:** 7+ years **Work Eligibility:** Candidates must have valid Australian work rights (Australian citizens, permanent residents or valid visa holders). **Key Responsibilities** * Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Java, Spring Boot and microservices. * Build and integrate REST APIs, messaging platforms and distributed systems. * Develop cloud-native applications and integration solutions using AWS services. * Create and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions. * Implement automated testing, code-quality checks and deployment processes. * Troubleshoot complex application, API, integration and production issues. * Ensure solutions meet performance, security, scalability and reliability standards. * Collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, testers and business stakeholders. **Required Skills** * Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot and Microservices. * Strong experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines. * Proven expertise in system integration, REST APIs, messaging and distributed systems. * Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native development. * Experience with automated testing, build tools and deployment automation. * Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, security and performance optimisation. * Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code is advantageous. * Strong troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
