Job description from the source

**Barden** is delighted to be working with one of our long term clients in the engineering and infrastructure domain in Cork City as they look to hire a newly qualified **Financial Accountant.** This is a newly created role, built to give a recently qualified accountant real breadth across the finance function rather than a narrow seat in one corner of it. You will work directly with the Financial Controller, take ownership of core accounting and reporting, and have a real say in how the team improves its processes, with automation and AI at the heart of your first project. The business is busy in a healthy way, and the atmosphere is positive. This is a role for someone who wants to learn the whole function, not just one piece of it. If you enjoy finding a better way to do things, you will make a real difference to how the team works. **ABOUT THE ROLE** * Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations. * Play a key part in automating accounts payable, using AI to read and enter invoices. * Prepare VAT returns and support strong financial controls. * Support year-end, external audit, and the preparation of financial statements. * Partner with project, procurement, commercial, and HR teams on the numbers. * Take on further process improvement and AI projects as the business grows. **ABOUT THE PERSON** * Newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CPA. * Trained in industry or a small to mid-tier practice. * Hands-on experience with management accounts, audit, and financial statements. * Strong Excel, and a real interest in automation and process improvement. * Confident communicator who enjoys working with colleagues across the business. * Construction sector experience is a plus.
