Job description from the source

Help build AI that reflects the people it is meant to serve. Cancer prediction models need rigorous evaluation across different populations and clinical settings. **At Durotimi AI, we are looking for a Data Scientist II** to help develop that evidence—and translate it into practical healthcare technology. **Location:** Dublin, Ireland (hybrid arrangement) **Contract:** Two-year fixed-term, with the possibility of a permanent role **Salary:** €55,000–€70,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience **Apply by:** Tuesday, 20th October 2026, at 12:00 noon Irish time **About Durotimi AI** **Durotimi AI is a translational research company developing locally intelligent solutions for earlier cancer detection and better care. Our two divisions, Research | Platforms** , connect scientific research with the development of practical tools for healthcare. Our activities span Ireland, the United States and Africa, with a focus on cancer risk prediction, clinical decision support and health data infrastructure. We investigate how AI can account for the populations, clinical settings and healthcare systems in which it will be used. **The opportunity** Working with scientists, clinicians and software engineers, you will turn complex health data into reproducible analyses, rigorously evaluated models and software components for platform integration. You will contribute to research programmes in prostate cancer and other priority cancers, alongside the development of our MunroCare platform portfolio. Your work will help answer consequential questions: How reliably does a model perform? For whom? And how well does it transfer to a different care setting? This role suits someone with at least two years of relevant experience, strong technical fundamentals and the scientific curiosity to investigate those questions. **What you will do** * Develop and evaluate machine learning models for cancer risk stratification and early detection research using clinical and longitudinal health data. * Build reproducible data pipelines for cleaning, harmonisation, feature engineering and quality assessment across multiple research sites. * Design robust experiments, including appropriate baselines, temporal validation and safeguards against data leakage. * Assess model discrimination, calibration, explainability and performance across relevant population subgroups. * Work with clinical investigators to translate research questions into analytical methods and interpret findings within their clinical context. * Collaborate with software engineers to prepare research models for platform integration, including versioning, testing and monitoring requirements. * Contribute to study reports, scientific publications and technical documentation, maintaining clear records of methods, assumptions and limitations. * Apply agreed data governance and security procedures when working with sensitive health information. **What you will bring** * A degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. * At least two years of relevant experience in applied data science, industrial research or a comparable research environment. * Strong Python and SQL skills, with practical experience using libraries such as scikit-learn and PyTorch or TensorFlow. * A sound understanding of statistics, supervised learning, experimental design and model evaluation. * Experience working with complex, incomplete or imbalanced datasets. * Good software development practices, including Git, documented code and reproducible workflows. * The ability to explain technical findings clearly and collaborate across scientific, clinical and engineering teams. **Experience that would be valuable** * A master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline. * Experience with electronic health records, cancer registries or other clinical datasets. * Knowledge of survival analysis, longitudinal modelling, clinical NLP, graph learning or multimodal AI. * Familiarity with federated learning, external validation, fairness assessment or model transportability. * Experience with MLOps, cloud infrastructure or integrating models into software products. * Contributions to peer-reviewed publications or collaborative clinical research. You do not need experience in every area listed above. We value strong fundamentals, scientific judgement and the ability to learn. **Why join Durotimi AI?** You will work on questions that matter to patients and clinicians, with opportunities to contribute across the path from research to platform development. In a growing team, your work will have direct visibility and help shape how we build, evaluate and translate AI for diverse healthcare settings. **How to apply** Please submit your **CV and a short supporting statement** outlining your relevant experience and interest in Durotimi AI to **talent@durotimi.com** . Where available, include links to relevant publications, GitHub repositories or projects. Please do not submit confidential employer materials or patient data. **Application deadline:** 12:00 noon (Irish local time) October 20, 2026 Durotimi AI welcomes applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Please let us know if you require a reasonable accommodation during the recruitment process.
