Job description from the source

**About The Company** SpaceX was founded on the belief that a future in which humanity explores the stars is more exciting than one in which it does not. The company is developing technologies to help make that future possible, with the long-term goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding human consciousness beyond Earth. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity better understand the universe. SpaceXSI teams are developing a full Super Intelligence technology stack, spanning Colossus supercomputers, Grok models, and products including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. The work connects computing infrastructure, model development, and user-facing applications in a continuous learning cycle: more compute supports better models, better models enable more useful products, and insights from product use help inform what the teams build next. **About The Role** SpaceXSI is seeking an exceptional Android Engineer to join a small, high-impact team focused on building an AI application that delivers meaningful value to users. In this role, you will help shape advanced mobile experiences, bringing together strong Android engineering, product judgment, and a high standard of execution. You will work on the most important product or technical challenge facing the team at any given time. This calls for an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership, moving between different areas of the product, and helping turn ambitious ideas into polished, reliable experiences. You will contribute to an application in an evolving AI product ecosystem, where thoughtful interaction design and dependable technical foundations are both essential. **Qualifications** Candidates should be proficient in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and reactive programming, with experience architecting modern, large-scale production applications. A strong understanding of the Android ecosystem and its development tools, including Android Studio and Gradle, is valuable. The ideal candidate combines technical excellence with product sense and can build intuitive, engaging experiences with care and attention to detail. Successful candidates demonstrate ownership, initiative, and the ability to take responsibility for substantial areas of work. They know how to balance performance, stability, and reliability as products grow. A track record of shipping standout applications or features that demonstrate both engineering quality and exceptional product intuition is preferred. Experience using Rust to work with backend components is also beneficial. **Responsibilities** Design, build, and improve Android features using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and reactive programming practices. Develop user experiences that are intuitive, polished, and responsive, while contributing to the product’s overall quality and usefulness. Architect and maintain application components that can support a large production app, applying sound engineering practices throughout development. Take ownership of important product and technical challenges, adapting priorities as team needs evolve. Identify and address opportunities to improve performance, stability, and reliability. Collaborate across product and technical areas, contribute to decisions that shape the Android experience, and help deliver features from implementation through release. Where relevant, work with backend components and use Rust-based systems as part of the broader product stack. **Benefits** The stated base salary range for this role is $180,000–$440,000 USD. Base salary is one part of SpaceXSI’s total rewards package, which also includes equity. Benefits include comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage; short- and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; and additional discounts and perks. Equal Opportunity SpaceXSI is an equal opportunity employer. Information about how candidate data is processed is available in the Recruitment Privacy Notice.
