Job description from the source

About Valley Studio Valley Studio is a family\-owned custom workroom. Since 1985 we have made window treatments, upholstery and furniture for the interior design trade. Our pieces are built by hand in our Van Nuys shop and installed in some of the most demanding homes in Los Angeles and beyond. We're growing fast. We need an operations leader who can help us scale without losing the craftsmanship and service our clients count on. The role You'll own how work moves through Valley, from the moment an order goes into production until the finished piece is installed in a client's home. You'll run the upholstery and frame production schedule, lead our delivery and installation team, and make sure every job ships on time, complete and to our standard. This is a leadership role. It's for someone who has run a shop floor and a delivery operation, thinks in systems, and still rolls up their sleeves on a high\-stakes install when it counts. What you'll own: Production, planning, and scheduling * Build and run the upholstery and frame production schedule: set priorities, balance capacity, and keep every job on track for its promised date. * Coordinate every day between the upholstery team, the frame shop and the front office so nothing slips through the cracks. * Spot bottlenecks early, fix them, and tell the front office and our design clients about schedule changes before they become problems. Delivery and installation * Lead the delivery and installation department. Hire, train, schedule and supervise drivers and installers, and set the standard for white\-glove handling and conduct in clients' homes. * Plan daily routes and crew assignments, and manage our van fleet, including maintenance, GPS tracking and vehicle safety. * Personally lead complex or high\-profile pickups, deliveries and light installations when needed. * Be the on\-site point of contact for designers, clients and building managers, including insurance certificates, loading docks and elevator bookings. Systems, quality and safety * Own our production and project management tools in Zoho. Keep job status accurate in real time and build the reports leadership needs. * Track and improve on\-time delivery, damage and claims, remakes and labor efficiency, including overtime. * Run a final quality check before pieces leave the shop, and manage damage claims and repairs. * Enforce safe lifting, ladder, tool and vehicle practices in line with Cal/OSHA and our Injury and Illness Prevention Program. People * Hire, train, coach and review your team. Recommend promotions, discipline and other changes in status. * Build a team culture of ownership, accountability and respect. Other duties may be assigned as the business needs change. What you bringRequired * 7\+ years of operations experience in custom manufacturing, furniture, millwork, upholstery, logistics or a similar hands\-on production setting, including at least 5 years managing teams directly. * A proven record of running production schedules, a delivery or installation operation, or both. * Strong skills with scheduling and project management software, and comfort learning Zoho (or a similar system), Google Workspace and Microsoft Office. * Clear, calm and professional communication with demanding clients and designers. * A valid California driver's license and the ability to be insured under our commercial auto policy. * Comfort with hand tools and light installation work. Preferred * Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred), to work directly with our production and installation teams. * Experience in high\-end residential, the interior design trade or luxury furniture. * Working knowledge of upholstery, frame construction, drapery or fine\-furniture handling. * Experience rolling out new systems or software in a growing business. Physical demands and work environment You'll split your time between our shop, the office, and client homes and job sites across Los Angeles. With or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of this role require the ability to: * Lift, carry and maneuver items up to 75 lbs, and move heavier pieces with a team or equipment. * Climb and work from ladders up to 20 feet. * Stand, walk, bend, kneel and reach for long periods, and use hand and power tools. * Drive a company cargo van throughout the Los Angeles area. * Work in a production setting with noise, dust and machinery. Schedule, pay and benefits **Schedule:** Monday to Friday, usually 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. As a salaried manager you'll sometimes flex for early, late or weekend deliveries when a client needs it. * **Salary:** $95,000–$125,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications * **Performance bonus** * **Medical, dental and vision insurance** * **401(k) retirement plan** * **Paid vacation and holidays**, plus paid sick leave * **Room to grow** with a business that is expanding How to apply Send your resume and a short note about the best operation you've run to info@valley.studio. Fair chance hiring and background checks Valley Studio will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records, in a manner consistent with the California Fair Chance Act, the City of Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance and the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers. We won't ask about criminal history before making a conditional offer. After a conditional offer, we'll run a background check and review your driving record. If anything in it concerns us, we'll do an individual assessment and give you a chance to respond before making a final decision. We reasonably believe criminal history may have a direct, adverse and negative bearing on the following material job duties, which could lead us to withdraw a conditional offer: * Entering and working inside clients' private homes, often without direct supervision * Handling high\-value furniture, artwork and other client property * Having access to clients' addresses, schedules and personal information * Driving company vehicles Equal opportunity employer Valley Studio is an equal opportunity employer.
