Job description from the source
**Federal Construction Superintendent / Quality Control Manager / Site Safety and Health Officer** RX3 Communications, Inc. · Yuma, Arizona (on site) **About RX3** RX3 Communications is a federal design-build contractor. We deliver fire alarm, mass notification, electrical and telecommunications systems for the Navy, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Defense Logistics Agency and other federal agencies. We are a small team, HUBZone-certified and ISO 9001-certified, with more than 16 years of federal work. Our subcontractors perform the trade work, and our field leaders make sure it gets built safely, correctly and on schedule. **The role** You will be RX3's leader on site for federal construction at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. You run the day-to-day work, own the quality control program, and keep the site safe. You are on site every workday, and you are the person the Navy's construction manager and our subcontractors look to. You report to the Project Manager and work closely with our Director of Field Operations. **What you'll do** * Run daily site work: coordinate subcontractor crews, deliveries, base access and work around building occupants and base operations. * Lead the three-phase quality control process: preparatory, initial and follow-up inspections, testing, and tracking every deficiency until it is fixed. * Serve as Site Safety and Health Officer: daily safety walks, activity hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and enforcing the Army Corps of Engineers safety manual (EM 385-1-1) on site. * Check subcontractor work against the approved drawings, submittals and specifications, and catch problems before the Government does. * Coordinate system outages, building access and work permits with the base. * Write daily quality control and production reports with photos. * Attend coordination and quality control meetings with the Navy's construction manager and raise issues early. * Lead punch lists, system testing, final inspections and closeout, including as-built drawings. **What you bring** * At least five years of commercial, industrial or government construction experience, including time as a superintendent, foreman, quality control manager or safety officer. * Strong ability to read drawings and specifications and to judge whether work meets them. * You live within a 60-minute drive of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. * You live in an SBA-designated HUBZone. You can check your address on the SBA HUBZone map at maps.certify.sba.gov/hubzone/map. * The Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors certificate, or the ability to complete it before you start. * An OSHA 30-hour card, or the ability to complete it before you start. * First aid and CPR certification, or the ability to get it before you start. * Comfort writing daily reports, taking photos and handling email on a tablet or laptop. * A valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a background check for access to military installations. **Nice to have** * Experience as a quality control manager or safety officer on Navy or Army Corps of Engineers projects. * Experience with fire alarm, mass notification, fire protection or electrical systems. * Journeyman electrician or fire alarm certification. * Experience working on an active military installation. **Working conditions** This is a full-time, on-site position in Yuma. Much of the work happens in and around occupied buildings and outdoors in desert heat, and involves walking active construction areas in required safety gear. **Compensation** This is a full-time, permanent, hourly position paying $45 to $60 per hour based on experience (about $94,000 to $125,000 a year at full time). Overtime is paid. RX3 Communications is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected status. Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Application Question(s): * Do you reside in an SBA-Designated Hubzone? If you are not sure, you can check here: https://maps.certify.sba.gov/hubzone/map * If you answered yes to Hubzone residency, please provide your full address for compliance purposes. Note that strong preference will be given to candidates residing in a designated Hubzone: Work Location: In person
