Senior Semi-Systematic Equities Trader

**About the firm** Our client is founder\-led quantitative trading firm based on the Queensland coast. Founded in 2021, the firm combines AI, quantitative research, and game theory to find inefficiencies across global markets, and its founders bring a 20\-year profitable trading track record. The team is lean and senior, with no layers or committees, and decisions get made fast. They are now building a semi\-systematic equities function from scratch, with a live strategy and committed capital set to launch within six months. **The role** This is a founding seat, not a seat on someone else's desk. You will report directly to the CEO and CIO, own the build of the semi\-systematic equities trading function, and have a clear pathway to lead the division. You will: * Develop and test new alpha signals and research ideas * Refine portfolio construction and risk allocation * Improve execution quality and reduce transaction costs * Stress test models across market regimes * Build scalable research infrastructure * Find and validate new sources of edge **What they're looking for** * 3\+ years trading semi\-systematic or systematic equities with live capital * A background at a hedge fund, prop trading firm, or institutional asset manager * Strong Python and systematic modelling skills * Deep knowledge of equity markets, portfolio construction, and risk * Quant rigour paired with market intuition, and a drive to keep improving PnL **What's on offer** * A founding seat with direct access to leadership and real ownership * A pathway to Head of Semi\-Systematic Equities Trading * Total compensation of around A$400k (approx. £210k / US$280k) * Relocation assistance available, visa sponsorship considered for the right candidate * A coastal Queensland lifestyle To apply or learn more, contact Alex Crowley at alex@qntpartners.com.
