## Background
UNESCO, through its Sciences (SCS) Sector, promotes, among others, inclusive, peaceful and sustainable societies by advancing human rights, social inclusion, youth empowerment, ethical governance of emerging technologies and the preservation of Africa’s history and heritage.
In Southern Africa, the Sector supports Member States and partners in implementing programmes and initiatives that address regional development priorities, including the ethical governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), socioeconomic dimensions of climate change, youth engagement and participation, mental health, disability inclusion, the General History of Africa (GHA) and the Southern Africa Liberation History (SALH).
Implementation of these programmes generates important results, lessons, knowledge products and experiences that contribute to UNESCO’s mandate and demonstrate the impact of its interventions across the region.
Effectively documenting, packaging and communicating these achievements is essential to strengthening visibility of the Sector’s work, promoting knowledge-sharing among stakeholders, supporting institutional accountability and demonstrating the value of UNESCO’s interventions to Member States, development partners and other stakeholders.
Systematic documentation of programme results and the development of compelling communication products can also contribute to resource mobilization by presenting evidence of programme impact, identifying opportunities for further collaboration and articulating the potential value of continued investment in the Sector’s work.
UNESCO ROSA therefore seeks to engage a Junior Consultant to support the Sector in communication and visibility, records and knowledge management, and the development of communication products that showcase results and achievements of ongoing and completed projects.
Working under the guidance of the Head of Sector, the consultant will support all programme workstreams, with particular emphasis on developing multimedia and print products that communicate programme outcomes, amplify stakeholder and beneficiary voices, and package results for institutional visibility and resource mobilization.
## Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of the Head of SCS Sector at UNESCO ROSA, the Junior Consultant will undertake the following tasks:
