VACANCY: EXCAVATOR OPERATORS (20 POSITIONS) Industry: Mining Employer: A Local Mining Company Number of Positions: 20 Location: Harare Job Description A local mining company is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill 20 Excavator Operator positions. Successful candidates will operate excavators safely and efficiently to support excavation, earthmoving and other mining-related activities. \- Operate excavators to carry out excavation, digging, loading and earthmoving activities. - Follow instructions from site supervisors, engineers and other authorised personnel. - Inspect excavators before and after operations to identify defects or mechanical problems. - Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance in accordance with operating procedures. - Ensure excavators are operated within their specified capacity and operating limits. - Follow designated work plans, excavation instructions and site traffic-management procedures. - Maintain awareness of workers, vehicles, underground services and other hazards in the operating area. - Report equipment breakdowns, unsafe conditions and incidents immediately. - Keep the equipment clean and maintain accurate operating and inspection records. - Comply with mining-site safety procedures and the use of required personal protective equipment. - Coordinate with other equipment operators and ground personnel to complete assigned tasks efficiently. - Avoid unauthorised equipment use and follow all applicable environmental and safety requirements. \- A minimum of secondary school education. - Relevant excavator operating training or certification. - Previous experience operating excavators; mining or quarrying experience would be an advantage. - Ability to carry out pre-start inspections and identify basic mechanical faults. - Good understanding of equipment safety and workplace hazard awareness. - Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively and work as part of a team. - Physically fit for the demands of the role, where required. - Willingness to work shifts or extended hours according to operational requirements. - Valid operator permits or licences where required by applicable regulations.
