## Chitungwiza Municipality Hiring GIS Officer and GIS Technicians - 4 Posts Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced personnel to fill the below-mentioned vacant positions, which have fallen vacant in the Urban Planning Department. ## 1. GIS Officer × 1 The incumbent will be reporting to the Urban Planning Manager. ### Qualifications/Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems. - 4 years of experience working with GIS. - Must be 30 years old and above. ### Key Duties and Responsibilities - Managing geospatial data related to the Municipality’s assets, infrastructure and land parcels. - Collecting, updating and organising spatial data from various sources such as surveys, aerial imagery and field data. - Creating maps and visualizing for various departments and stakeholders. - Developing thematic, zoning, utility maps and other spatial representations. - Performing spatial analysis to support urban planning activities. - Analysing demographic data, land use patterns, transportation networks among other spatial factors. - Integrating geospatial data with other Municipal systems and database. - Providing training and technical support to staff members who use GIS software and tools. - Any other duties as assigned by the Urban Planning Manager. ## 2. GIS Technicians × 3 The incumbents will be reporting to the GIS Officer. ### Qualifications/Requirements - Higher National Diploma in Geographic Information Systems. - 3 years of experience working with GIS. - Must be 25 years old and above. ### Key Duties and Responsibilities - Collecting data using GPS devices, aerial photography, and other tools to create maps or other graphic representations of data. - Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to store, analyse, and manage data that has been gathered from field surveys or other sources. - Creating maps and other graphics using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to display data in visual formats for a variety of purposes, such as communicating environmental hazards or land use planning. - Designing custom maps and other graphics for presentations, publications, reports, and other purposes. - Advising managers on the best use of GIS technology to support organizational goals. - Installing, repairing, and maintaining computers and software used for GIS applications. - Researching new GIS technology to determine its potential utility for specific applications within an organization. ## How to Apply Chitungwiza Municipality is an equal opportunity employer and hence encourages everyone to apply.
